Orange: taking ownership of an end-to-end rebuild
At Orange, I took ownership of the Portail Back Office (PBO) rebuild, from existing-system analysis to specifications, architecture and development. I also introduced agile practices within the team and worked on the Fast Tools / GRICO project.
01 · Context
Rebuilding from an obsolete existing system
Both projects involved ageing code and technology versions. The work began by understanding the existing systems and business requirements before defining the foundations of the rebuild.
PBO covered order and delivery management. Fast Tools / GRICO concerned invoicing, traffic and pricing. Each of these distinct business scopes required analysis of how it worked.
02 · Portail Back Office
A rebuild from scratch, from requirements to implementation
On PBO, I took ownership of the project end to end. My work covered existing-system analysis, detailed functional and technical specifications, establishing the architecture and development.
Specify the requirements
Write detailed functional and technical specifications to provide an explicit foundation for design and development.
Design & develop
Establish the architecture and agree on technologies with the architects, then work on implementation in the Java / Angular environment.
03 · Fast Tools / GRICO
A second rebuild project and a team leadership role
On Fast Tools / GRICO, I worked on existing-system analysis, architecture and rebuilding the invoicing, traffic and pricing system. On Fast Tools, I led a team of four developers.
04 · Team organisation
Introduce agile practices within the team
Beyond architecture and code, I introduced agile practices within the team. This organisational dimension formed part of my contribution alongside design and development on the rebuild projects.
What I brought to the project
Functional and technical specifications, architecture agreed with the architects, hands-on development and an agile framework for the team: this assignment combined design, implementation and work organisation.
